Introducing the Smokey's DogHouse Team

Andrew Gelsey President and CEO

Andy brings 20+ years of retail experience to Smokey's DogHouse Treats™ and it's parent company Augie Brands, Inc. A veteran retail merchant Andy has worked for world class retailers Macy's, The GAP, and Kmart during his career.

While at Kmart, Andy played a key role in the development and roll out of Martha Stewarts Everyday Storage and Organization product assortment.

In December of 2007, he began to build the framework of what would become Smokey's DogHouse Treats. In May of 2008, after countless recipe changes and a tasting panel that included himself and 30 plus dogs from around the country Smokey's DogHouse Treats was born.

The company moved in 2009 from their 750 sq.ft. test kitchen to the DogHouse a 2500sq. ft. office and baking facility in Commerce Township, MI.

Andy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Florida International University. He resides West Bloomfield, Michigan with his wife Nanci, their son Jason, and let's not forget Smokey.


Ira A. Levin, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing

Ira brings to Smokey's DogHouse 21 years of comprehensive experience in the highly competitive automotive finance industry.

As a former Senior Executive with Chrysler Financial Ira developed extensive expertise in sales management, marketing, customer retention management, strategic product development, retail and wholesale lending, dealership financial consulting, sales and financial analysis, sales promotions, team building, sales forecasting, and customer relations and service.

Ira will lead and coordinate the sales and marketing functions for Smokey's. He will develop and implement the corporate marketing strategy. He will also analyze sales and marketing activities against goals.

Ira received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida, located in Tampa, FL in 1987. He resides West Bloomfield, Michigan with his wife Shirley, their daughter Danielle, son Elijah, and rescued Bulldog/Chiwawa mix Lola.

Smokey, Chair Dog of the Board

Smokey a lab beagle mix, was rescued by the K9 Stray Rescue League in Oxford MI, and was adopted by the Gelsey Family in July of 2007. She immediately became part of the family and within a week of her arrival, had Andy wrapped around her four paws. She loves taste-testing, going for walks, chasing squirrels, rabbits, birds, chipmunks and leaves on a windy fall day.

Smokey resides in West Bloomfield, Michigan with her family.
